NEW DATE AND FORMAT!
Our annual fundraiser has a new look! We have partnered with West Chester University to offer your students a low-key performance opportunity that is fun for all while raising money for a worthy cause. At the Scholarship Play-A-Thon, students get an opportunity to play in Ware Recital Hall for their peers, families and teachers, with proceeds supporting the Constance W. Murray Memorial Scholarship. The schedule is arranged in one-hour time-blocks by teacher. You may sign up for one or more hours. Teachers participating in the Constance Murray Piano Festival on the previous day are welcome to also participate in the Play-A-Thon.
On Sunday, March 14, 12:00-6:00 PM, teachers reserve time-blocks by the hour in Ware Recital Hall, and may use the time for their students to have a studio recital, repertoire class, or ensemble playing. A minimum contribution of $60 per hour is required, which you and your students may fund-raise anyway you wish. To register for the Play-A-Thon, complete the registration form found on the Registration For Events members-only webpage to indicate which time-blocks are possible for you. Teachers will then be notified of the final schedule by email. If you wish your students to solicit sponsors in a typical ‘Thon’ style fundraising, you can also print the special chart found in Member Resources!
Audience members and families will be able to make additional contributions on-site via QR code and cash collection. Again, 100% of proceeds go directly to the Constance W. Murray Memorial Scholarship.

HISTORY
Connie Murray was an inspiring piano instructor and longtime member of MLMTA. As an active member, she founded the currently-named Constance W. Murray Piano Festival. In the spirit of an organization that is dedicated to the enrichment and support of private music teachers and their pupils, MLMTA created the Constance Murray Memorial Scholarship to be administered by WCU in Connie’s honor, after her passing. The Murray Scholarship recognizes and supports a West Chester University piano major who demonstrates an interest in teaching piano. The purpose of the scholarship is to foster new piano teachers and continue to raise the standard of piano teaching for the benefit of all. While the baseline for this award is currently set at $400, it is our hope to raise additional earnings for the benefit of a WCU student’s aspiring new piano teaching career.
